Help
Going live on your domain
Going live points your web address at your new site. Your email stays as it is. Your old site stops showing, and an old online store stops feeding your site.
Before
Until then, approved changes land on your new site at a private address. When you are ready, type your domain to your site manager, such as yourbusiness.com.au. We run our checks, and nothing changes until we confirm.
We also check that pages Google knows on your old site still open, or forward to the matching new page.
On the day
Your dashboard says "Going live on (your domain) now. Certificates and DNS take a few minutes." Then: "Live on (your domain) since (date)".
Screen to comeToday, with the Live on (your domain) line.
What changes
- Your domain shows the new site. Only the records for your web address change.
- The private address now forwards to your domain.
- Changes you approve go live on your domain.
What stays the same
- Your email. Its records are left alone, so you send and receive as before.
- Where your enquiries go.
Your old site or store
- If we hosted your old WordPress site, we keep it at an archive address, so we can switch back if needed.
- Your new shop keeps its own copy of your products. Edits in the old store do not reach it: send product changes to your site manager.
